Thinking of entering the colorful world of media practitioners? Are you somehow
convinced that the road of Communication is the right path to take for your
desired career in the near future? Then you're reading the right article! Here, we will be sharing helpful tips that would help the media practitioners of tomorrow
COMMUNICATION IS KEY

As a mass comm student, one must
be fully aware that communication is essential in surviving this course.
Extroverts thrive in this world. Flaunt your communication skills, connect with
everyone, and speak your heart out. That is the key to success in the College
of Comm.
If you happen to be an
Introvert though, don't fret. If you think you would fall instantly out of
place here, the people right in front of you are willing to help. In fact, it
is even better that you took this course to enhance your communication skills
and free yourself from anxiety and barriers that block you from communicating
with others. Remember, you are in safe hands.
FLAUNT WHAT YOU HAVE

If you've been blessed with a
God-given talent, flaunt it. Everyone has their own set of skills and talents,
their own field of expertise. Don't be afraid to share those talents, it is
meant to be shared in the first place! And if you are yet to discover the
talent that you might posses, this course is perfect in helping out find who you are
and where you truly excel in. You can learn how to sing, dance, and act through
various workshops that aim to enhance and bring out that hidden talent.
WARNING: SLEEPLESS NIGHTS

Get ready to conserve as much
energy as early as now, becuase you're going to need it. Being a Mass Comm student,
it is inevitable to stay up all night, just to meet deadlines and do
homework. You probably wont have free time anyway at school because those are
reserved for rehearsing whatever production you'll be mounting. Solution?
COFFEE, COFEE, and if it isn't enough MORE COFFEE.
BE FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE

Thinking of buying that amazing
Polo from Zara or watching that horror movie with your girl? I'D RATHER SAVE UP
MY MONEY IF I WERE YOU. As a Mass Comm student, we'd be shelling out large amounts of
money than most students ever do. We have to pay for the talents we hire,
transportation expenses to go to desired shooting locations, not to mention the
props and set expenses when mounting plays. Set aside your selfish
desires for now and instead allot all that money for school purposes. Just
imagine how your mom's going to be real proud of you when she finds out you now
know how to budget your money.
ACCEPT ALL FORMS OF CRITICISM

Exerting all of your efforts to
produce one heck of a good output... and then your professor scraps it with
just the snap of their fingers. This is the harsh reality that we live in, and
for a time, it cripples you and drains you, leaving you uninspired to do
anything. But then you rise up and think of new and improved ideas, and it
finally gets accepted.
Do not dwell on the critic
itself and let it affect your work. Completely accept it and use it as a fuel
to do better and be better. We, as media practitioners, should be exposed from
criticisms as early as possible so that we can get used to criticisms since
those who are working professionally in the field of Mass Comm are criticized
almost everyday.
GOD ABOVE ALL ELSE

Above all that, prioritize and
give glory to Our Lord God, always. Seek His guidance and thank Him for
everything that He has given you, for never leaving your side and staying
through the ups and downs in your life. Thank Him most especially for the
unwavering Love that he gives to us ever so willingly, guiding us in
life.
Here's why you should choose mass comm as your course, a video from youtube made by mass comm students themselves:

We should also address the
elephant in the room, the greatest misconception of all: "Mas Komportable
sa Mass Com" which means "it's more comfortable in Mass Comm". BELIEVE ME,
THAT IS SO WRONG ON SO MANY LEVELS. If you are eyeing this course merely
because of the "high assurance" in acquiring a diploma, back out
now. You'll be facing a ton of rejection, along with sleepless nights,
and not to mention mounting a production of your own. Though all courses are
hard in their own way, I can definitely say that Mass Comm is not for the faint
of heart. It is not in any way easy.
But, if you look past the
hardships and trials along the way, Mass Comm (in my opinion) is the most
fulfilling course education has to offer. The scope of learning is so wide, you
can apply what you've learned to almost any job out there. Coming from
someone who shifted courses twice now, I can truthfully say that I have found
the right course for me and I am proud to be a Mass Comm student.
