COC Freshman Musical
Every year there's a musical theater in the college of communication. Musical theater is under of COMM100, the first major subject of B.A Communication. Musicals are fun, entertaining and thrilling experiences for the student. Musical play are not just fun, they also have very real and measurable educational benefits and it also helps us to build confidence and improves learning skills.
My first musical play entitled DEH (Dear Evan Hansen) it was really memorable.
(The dear evan hansen is about a high school senior with severe social anxiety which inhibits his ability to connect with other people and make friends).
Being a stage manager is like being one of the director once the performances start. Stage managing was a wonderful experience, but it was also a big responsibility. Theres is so much papaer works that goes on when being a stage manager. I had several files on my phone dedicated to Dear evan hansen. As an stage manager you need to make rehearsal schedules attendance, contact sheets or contact information and the blocking sheet. I realize that time management is really important because i was under such a strict schedule balancing school and rehearsals. During rehearsals, i admit that sometimes im late but i ensure that the papers, script, blocking sheets are all prepared. Arranged the room or place for the scene to be performed and collected any props, costume or ther item that might be needed for that particular rehearsal. At the end of rehearsal i arranged the room back to its original condition and returned all of the props and other items from where they came.

Script, Blocking sheets.
I kept notes of each actor's blocking and if a cast member was unavailable, someone would read that actor's lines. I was also responsible for the calling time. When the rehearsal would begin and when it would end and for changing the set between scenes. After the rehearsal of the actors the director and stage manager's began to focus into technical like the lights, sounds, and music. And also begab rehearsing runs and moved and the cast call by setting up specific time for pre-show music, for the house opening and for the cast and crew preshow gathering. Every week we have a meetings to discuss everyone's progress and needs.
Were only 9 students in this subject so we need some students to help us, some of our imports student are Fourth Year.
My duties were to assist wherever i could to help keep things organized and people busy doing what was needed. I had those same duties when we start on monday until the final performances in wednesday. We went through each line of the script and noted each and every cue for the actual performances for the backstage crew. I remember were using a laselights as a cue to the technical. We numbered the cues from the beginning, preshow, for opening the house until the last scenes.
With this type of cuing system, the sound and lighting were able to prepared the tech boards to the specific cue number.
