EARLY LIFE
Andrea Bardos, born Cres Andrea Bardos (a.k.a.
Drei, Andrea) was born in Davao City on April 9, 1988 and was raised in General
Santos City. Her parents are Crescente Bardos, an industrial engineer, and
Phoebe Bardos, a graduate of accountancy, and has a sister, Gemma Montales who
now lives with her family in Kuwait.
Bardos
took her grade school at New Era University Gensan and Lamb of God SPED
Academy. She went to the non-sectarian Holy Trinity College of Gensan in high
school. During high school, she was active in the Supreme Student Government
(SSG) holding the Vice-President and President positions when she was in third
and fourth year, respectively. She was also chosen as one of the Junior City
Officials where she took the role of a city councilor for a week which gave her
the chance to meet politicians and the boxing champ, Sen. Manny Pacquiao. She
was also the Vice President for the General Santos City SSG, an organization of
SSG officials of all high schools in General Santos.
In
college, she went to University of The Philippines Mindanao in Davao City for
two years where she took up Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts. She studied
theater as one of her subjects and was part of the stage production of the play
“Last Order Sa Penguin” written by UP alumnus Chris Martinez who also wrote the
famous films Kimmy Dora, Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank, and Here Comes The Bride
among others. She also finished Level 2 Nihonggo. For extracurriculars, she was
a member of Kwerdas, the official acoustic guitar organization of UP Mindanao.
As a group, they performed not only in the campus but also in several
restaurants in Davao City.
Bardos
relocated to Manila in 2007 where she qualified to the College of Linguistics
and College of Mass Communication in University of The Philippines Diliman. She
chose the latter and took up Journalism as a major. Aside from print
journalism, she was also trained in broadcasting which prepared her for
internship and the jobs she took after graduation. Among her famous professors
were Prof Danilo Arao (Pinoy Weekly columnist) and Prof. Winnie Monsod whom she
worked with in the morning show Unang Hirit.
She
is also a Gerry Roxas Foundation Awardee (high school) and became its scholar
in her four years in the university.
CAREER
2009- 2011
During
internship at Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho (KMJS)
in GMA Network, Bardos proposed a story
on Filipino cuisine with weird names (ex. Paksi’ng Demonyo, Tibok-Tibok, etc.)
. The producers, including Ms. Jessica Soho
herself, approved the story proposal and it was aired on the show in 2009,
making Bardos the first intern whose proposed story was aired. This earned her
recommendations from her professors and the producers of the show promised her
employment should she choose a career in broadcast media. After graduating from
UP Diliman, she took her first job as a researcher in KMJS. In the same year,
she researched for the longest running morning show Unang Hirit where she became a segment
producer after five months. She wrote and produced a variety of news
features and huge live coverages such as the 2010
and 2013 National Elections and the first
Welcome Ko, Kapatid Ko event of the Iglesia Ni Cristo. As a producer, she
collaborated with GMA’s top broadcasters like Arnold
Clavio, Rhea Santos, Ivan Mayrina, Lyn
Ching, Suzy Entrata, Susan Enriquez, Connie
Sision, and Drew Arellano.
Alongside
Unang Hirit, she worked as a researcher for the magazine show Poptalk hosted by Tonipet Gaba in 2011.
2013- 2015
In
2013 to 2014, she modelled for David’s Salon
hair shows and became a model of HD Make-Up Studio & Academy.
In
the late 2014, she left GMA Network and started an events company with her
friends. They called it Ideya Productions
which caters to weddings and corporate events.
In
2015, Bardos returned to her media
profession as a writer and producer in INCTV,
one of the two TV arms of Iglesia Ni Cristo. But after 10 days, she was
transferred to Net25 and became the
executive producer of the morning show Masayang
Umaga Po hosted by Direk Leo Martinez
and Ms. Cita Astals.
While
producing, she continued organizing and planning events for her company’s
clients. Then her team changed the company’s name to Corevents Productions.
In
the same year, she also accepted an international modelling stint from Diva TV. She was cast in the campaign ads of
the Asian version of “How Do I Look?”, a
make-over show, which aired on the cable TV channel Diva. On her segment
entitled “Comfort Or Style”, she acted as
a news producer who lacks fashion sense because of the on-the-go nature of her
job. Fashion experts did a make-over on her and changed her style.
2016- 2018
In
2016, Bardos left her job as the executive producer of Masayang Umaga Po (MUP) to be one of the main hosts of the same
show. She had a segment called “Pinoy ‘To”
which featured certified Filipino works and products.
In
November, while hosting MUP, she also became the anchor of Eagle News International Morning Edition which
aired daily at 7am.
Her
events team continued planning events but due to SEC registration difficulties,
they changed again the team’s name into CoreProd
Co. One of the highlights of the team’s projects was their collaboration
with Ceelin, a brand of Unilab. They organized Ceelin’s Kiddie Fun Run event in Subic Bay which around 500 kids
had participated.
Fashion for a Cause
In
2017, Bardos and her co-host in MUP launched Fashion
Box Manila, an online fashion store for a cause. They sold clothes they
wore on the show and parts of the profit went to the charity of their choice.
Their advocacy is education for kids.
In
March, Bardos and her Canadian friends organized a personal charity project
where they visited Concordia’s Children’s Services in Manila and donated food
and school supplies, milk, and toys for the children. This was also the first
beneficiary of Fashion Box Manila. The second beneficiary was a school in the
remote area of Batangas which received raincoats and school supplies in July.
PAMBANSANG ALMUSAL
In
September, The shows Masayang Umaga Po
and Pambansang Almusal merged with the
latter as the new show title. Bardos remained a talent and hosted the segment Viewers’ Corner alongside hosts Phoebe Publico,
Genesis Gomez, Earlo Bringas, Edward Flores, and Mia Suarez.
January
1, 2018, Bardos co-hosted the countdown to New Year coverage of Net25 with
Phoebe Publico, Claire Cuenca, and the new EBC President Weng Dela Fuente.
As
of this writing, Bardos is currently spending her time with her family in Kuwait. She left on February of this year and
took a temporary leave from TV hosting. She is still very much in touch with
her EBC family and is even planning to be a News Correspondent for the said
network while staying in Kuwait.
